No way I trade Lee for Leddy. Would take a much better dman for me to think about trading Lee. Hate the idea of the Isles giving up another power forward and in a lousy deal. |

Just curious, but given the circumstance with Chicago's cap situation, what would you think would be a reasonable offer from the Isles for Leddy and Versteeg? - EKolb13
Mayfield and a second round pick or your choice of Josh Bailey or Matt Martin and a pick and we would have to pick up salary |

Thanks Dan.
I know of a few posters over in the Chicago thread that would love the highlighted idea. |

That second line of Lee/Nelson/Strome sounds amazing - kindlyrick
That’s a line I’d really enjoy watching, heck of a lot of talent on that line and some very interesting combinations of size, strength, speed and skill. |

Bob McKenzie reported the Hawks are still shopping Nick Leddy, but telling teams they have to take Versteeg as well. #isles

I would not trade Lee for Leddy.
Leddy is a #5 defenseman on the Hawks and was not very good in the playoffs last year. I'd rather keep Lee and take my chances that one of the many young offensive-minded defensemen the Isles have can step up.
The Isles need a defenseman but Leddy ain't it and there's a reason he's burning a hole in the Hawks' pocket. |

I would have no problem with this line starting the season. |

I agree with everyone here. Leddy is no guarantee to be top 4 dman.
I would rather trade just go for Oduya for some future picks are B level prospect. |

i gotta believe a few of the 4,000 defensive prospects in the system will amount to at least nick leddy.
trading a power foward who plays balls to the wall and leaves it all on the ice for an average defenseman aint worth it.

Ya, there's that problem that #1 has won 2 Norrises, and #3 is a top 2 guys on most teams in the league.
The Hawks can "afford" to deal Leddy because he is almost certainly a top 4 guy now or in the very near future on most teams int he league—just not with them—and he will command top 4 money, which they can't afford.
To imply he sucks because he's #5 on the Hawks is just kind of silly.
What you get with Nick Leddy is a guy who can skate like the wind, really shoot and pass the puck. He has improved in his own end but still struggles at times with assignments and really locking it down around his own net. He's 23 and has won a Stanley Cup.
And he does things physically 90-95% of the league's defensemen can't.
A work in progress, a competent 4-5 on any team, and huge upside.

Versteeg we wouldn't want at all (have like 16 signed forwards).
Leddy is a good player, but we have his clone in Hickey already. |

Still not eager to trade Josh. We were the same way with KO and he broke out like a teenager's face last season.
Josh is two years younger than KO was last season.
Also Josh is well above average defensively, easily a middle 6 forward with potential to be top 6 |

Problem is over the last season and this summer every time I go to the hawks thread you have your own fans ripping leddy, and when it comes to cap casualties 90% of your posters seem to think they wouldn’t miss him. That, to me, is a fairly large red flag. Unlike flyers fans, if I see that stuff I remember how we were with amac and I want no part of another one.
Simple fact is that we don’t really NEED another offensive minded defenseman. What we desperately need is someone like oduya or boychuk, defensive minded who can play 20 minutes a night with an edge to his game.

Dan, are you sure the game is on MSG +? I don't see it listed. I just see that it "will be streamed live on Islanders TV and broadcast on WRHU 88.7 FM."
Like the others have said, "No" on the Leddy for Lee. I'm looking forward to watching him this season.
I can't wait to see both second lines tonight (forward and defensive). Should be very interesting. |

Kyle worked his ass off when he wasn’t scoring, the effort was there. Bailey gets lost in the maze inside his head. Big difference between the two to me.
I’ll be very happy if I’m wrong.

Literally all Bailey has to do to improve is shoot. His stick handling is there, his back checking is there, his hustle is there.
He doesn't have that selfish desire to score |

Low-ball offers. They're the ones with their hands forced. If Snow can't pilfer Leddy on the cheap then I'd pass. |

If I can get a defenseman for bailey I would trade him yes. I don't think you can compare bailey and Okposo. Totally different players |
